There are numerous amazing electric skateboards available on the market. Their prices range from $200 to $1000+, meaning everyone will be able to find their own cup of tea. Well, while that might be true theoretically, in truth, you will notice that the entry level models (the most budget friendly ones) are mostly aimed towards children. This is due to their extremely low weight they are able to support.
Who are entry level electric skateboard best suited for?
Models under $200 (and even $300) tend to have a limit on how much weight they can carry. This limit is set at around 150 lbs, which is far too low for the average adult to ride on. They are built and sold to kids and teenagers. Adults need not just decks that can hold the extra weight, but also increased motor power to carry it along, and especially up against hills. So what was I looking for picking and choosing electric skateboards for this list?
What kind of features should an electric skateboard for adults have?
Should you decide to look for boards beyond this list, even though I don’t know why would you want to do that, 🙂 , here’s a list of factors that you will need to take into account, features, that a board needs to have to be suitable for you:
Let’s not dilly-dally
That’s about it when it comes to things that you should look for in an electric skateboard for adults. This info isn’t some well kept secret, but if you’re just getting into electric skateboards, I thought it would be nice to have a cheat sheet to help you get started. That’s also the reason I decided to come up with a list of the best electric skateboards for adults.
Keep in mind that these models are quite expensive with their prices ranging from cca $300 to cca $600, some cost even more. But don’t worry because you are getting exactly what you are paying for – top quality models with top quality performance. With this being said, let’s hop right on to the list and see what models made it on there!

10. Atom Electric H.6
Atom Electric H.6 is basically a longboard. It comes with a deck that stretches for 36 inches. Underneath the deck you’ll find a powerful 600W hub motor, hidden away inside the wheel. This gives the board a very clean look. Unsuspecting onlookers might not even realise that you have an electric skateboard if they don’t take a closer look under the deck, or if you don’t start driving around of course.
Thick Canadian maple wood deck makes sure that drivers up to 220 lbs in weight can ride this bad boy. 220 lbs should cover most adults. Friend of mine has one of these and I tested it out, the board held me just fine, and I’m 225. You could maybe push it to 250, but I’m not sure if that’s wise.
The powerful motor that’s powering Atom Electric H.6 allows for top speeds of about 20 mph. That is at least the advertised top speed. In reality, depending on terrain, rider weight, driving style, top speeds will vary between 15-20 mph. Battery on the other hand is capable of delivering around 7 miles of range, which isn’t that much. It could be a bit better, since other models mentioned on this list are capable of delivering more than double that on a single charge.
Good news is, charging time is about 2 hours. So you might not be able to cover a lot of ground on a single charge, but at least you can charge the board quickly and get back to riding in practically no time.
Atom Electric features regenerative braking. In other words, every time you brake, you also charge the battery, which allows you to drive further. Ha, I guess you could say that braking allows you to drive more, how neat is that. There is a built-in battery level indicator. It’s built into the deck. This allows you to monitor the battery level, so you don’t end up with a dead skateboard all of a sudden.
Remote control fits comfortably in the hand, and has two speed modes, slow and fast. Slow speed mode is for inexperienced drivers, where top speed is limited. Fast mode obviously gives you full top speed. For the price tag of $500, this electric skateboard has plenty of power and can withstand high weight loads that are enough for most adults to ride it. Plus the deck design is very nice to look at, very retro.
Next model on the list has a very loud name, SKATEBOLT. Do you get it, name is stylized in all caps because it screams how good the board is, 🙂 . When you take a closer look under the hood, it’s no wonder why the manufacturer decided to put the name in all caps.
Starting with the most important spec for moment for us, this longboard features 9ply Canadian maple wood deck. It can hold up to 280 lbs of weight. Entry level electric skateboards will have 5ply decks, at best 7ply. SKATEBOLT really is something that’s built for grown ups in mind.
Another spec that tells you this electric skateboard is aimed at adults is the rated output power of the motor. There are actually two hub motors that power this board. With a combined power output of 1000W, these two motors can deliver top speed of about 25 mph. Inclines of up to 30° can be battled by SKATEBOLT.
On top of all that, with a 6.6 Ah battery, you’ll be able to cover around 19 miles on a single charge. Keep in mind that both top speed and mileage on a single charge depend on a lot of factors. Charge time for the battery is between 2-4 hours. I took a look at the battery make and model, and it’s LG. It’s not cheapo generic Chinese battery, so kudos to SKATEBOLT.
Wheels have hardness level of 85A. They are wear resistant PU wheels, just what an electric skateboard aimed at adults needs. Controller has speed control similar to that of Atom Electric H.6 (slow and fast). Best part about everything that I just wrote is that I still haven’t gotten to the best part yet, the price.
At 600$, this really is a decent bang for the buck that you’re getting with SKATEBOLT. People I know who have it are satisfied with it. I definitely recommend it if you are a bit heavier and are in the market for a sturdy electric skateboard.
8. BLITZART Tornado
As much as we were, or should I say, I was, impressed with SKATEBOLT, I gotta say that BLITZART Tornado might even be a better buy. With BLITZART Tornado, for a slight drop in performance you get much higher weight load on the deck, coming in at 300 lbs max weight load.
What makes such high weight load possible is 8ply maple wood deck reinforced with bamboo at the bottom of the deck.
I said that there is a slight drop in performance, and it really is a very small drop in motor power, range and top speed. In BLITZART Tornado, they somehow managed to get a single 320W hub motor to be able to achieve speeds of up to 17 mph. It really goes to show how proper design and engineering trumps raw power.
Range also isn’t that bad, not bad at all. On a single charge you can get up to 15 miles out of the 36V battery that comes with the board. Charge time for the battery is impressive 2.5 hours from empty to full.
It’s worth noting that there are three different colors, or should I say three different color accents of the board available. On all three available color accents deck is completely black, but you can additionally choose either black, green or orange wheel and deck outline color. Remote control is very ergonomic, you hardly even feel it in the hand. It has the standard controls for an electric skateboard, accelerate, decelerate, and forward/backwards toggle switch.
Where things really start to get interesting with the Tornado is the price. I know I said in the introduction that you can hardly find any good electric skateboards aimed at adults for $300, but BLITZART Tornado is the exception. It will set you back exactly $300, but it’s currently on a discount, so you can buy it for as low as $280. It’s THE best bang for the buck model on the list.
7. Xtreme 1500W
If you are looking for the perfect commuting alternative and you prefer the ultimate comfort over some flashy design schemes and whatnot, then you should seriously take a closer look at this model. It is equipped with a 1500W motor and is, believe it or not, huge (and one of top adults electric skateboards)!
This 36-inch model’s deck is made out of 7ply high quality Canadian Maple Wood. It is going to stand the test of time and will provide you with the ultimate grip and stability like no other model on the market. Not only that, it offers some amazing specs as well.
With cca 20 miles per hour of top speed (in the perfect conditions of course), it is safe to say that Xtreme is one of the fastest models on this list. In other words, if you are looking for something that can transport you from point A to point B, and you want the process to be fast, then this best is the right choice for you.
Not only is it extremely fast, it also sports a durable battery that lasts up to 20 miles on a single charge. The best of all is its maximum allowed weight which ranks somewhere around 230 lbs which makes it perfect for heavy boned people. The good things about this electric skateboard don’t end here – its battery is equipped with the popular fast charge technology, allowing it to charge to 100% as quickly as 2 hours. Amazing!
To summarize – if you want a fast, reliable and above all extremely comfortable electric rideable, then Xtreme Free 1500W is the model you’re looking for!
6. Airwheel M3
Airwheel is a great electric skateboard with exceptional looks. The minimalistic appearance that breathes with old school design will simply leave you breathless. The deck is made out of high quality maple wood and is topped off with solid grip tape that will ensure you get the maximum stability and comfort while skating around the block.
Regarding the maximum allowed load, you will be happy to be informed this little guy supports up to 100 kgs which is equivalent to 220 lbs. Moreover, it packs quite the punch for an extremely affordable price of just above $400.
That’s quite the bargain considering this model features top speeds of up to 13 mph which is not half bad considering its adequate price tag. Additionally, it features an excellent battery as well, allowing it to reach up to 13 miles on a full charge. And that full charge doesn’t take awfully lot of time. On the contrary, it takes cca 2 hours for it to fill up to the top, making it among the fastest charging models on the market.
The good things about Airwheel M3 don’t end here. It is important to add that it has built in damper masses which, with a bit of help from those big rubber tires, allow this electric skateboard to glide on all types of terrain with fluent ease.
All things considered, if you are looking for a cheap mean of transportation, one thing is sure – you cannot go wrong with the Airwheel M3!
5. Benchwheel Penny Board 1000W
This 1000W electric skateboard is among the newest electric skateboards for adults on the market. It doesn’t have a lot of popularity, but what it does have is great specs and a reasonable price tag of only $400.
Specs-wise, this little guy has max speed of roughly 15 mph which sets it above your average electric skateboard in this price range. Unfortunately, the battery is not on par with the motor because it is only able to draw out approximately 7 miles of range per charge.
But, there’s an upside to every downside, and that’s exactly the case here. With the all new quick charging technology, Benchwheel’s battery charges up for less than 90 minutes. That has to be a new record on the market. Somebody please check that out for us!
The build quality is nothing spectacular, but it will do the job. One thing that we noticed and that brought a smile or two is the location of the carrying hole. Usually, it is located on one of the longer sides of an electric skateboard. In this case, it is located on the back end of it, making the carrying a little bit of a nuisance since you’ll have to put more strain on your arm muscles.
Besides that, it is safe to say that Benchwheel Penny Board seems like a great option at a great price.
4. Buffalo F1
For the deck, designers decided to ditch maple wood, which is the standard and instead opted for a combination of 4 layer of bamboo, plus another 4 layers of fiberglass. An unusual combo, but apparently this allows the board to have better traction, durability, elasticity and stability when riding. This unique deck material combo also allows for increased weight load. Board is rated for a maximum of 270 lbs.
Buffalo F1 is also unique in the fact that it has optional single and dual motor work modes. With that I mean that you can run the board with either just one of the two available motors turned on, or you can run both of them at the same time. Number of motors used determines overall power output. With both motors in use, max power output is a whopping 2400W.
Overall power output in turn determines the top speed, obviously. Where the number of motors plays a more crucial role is the range. With a single motor you can reach up to 18 miles on a single charge. With both motors in use that number goes down to 11 miles.
Unique motor setup that Buffalo F1 has to offer is also used when dealing with top speed. On the remote control of this board you’ll find three work modes for setting the top speed. When both motors are fully used, top speed sits somewhere at around 25 mph. Manufacturer calls this the “Fun mode”. It kinds does sound fun, 🙂 .
Middle ground when talking about max speed can be had in the “Cruise mode” where the board won’t go over 12 mph. There is also a “Slow mode” for super inexperienced riders, which sets max speed at around 7 mph. For a price tag of around $700, you get a beefed up electric skateboard, with lots of unique features.
3. Genesis Hellfire
We are starting our list off with Hellfire. It’s a brand new model coming straight from Genesis, a little known company that is rather passionate when it comes to making top quality tech merchandise. They did an exceptional job with their 2 new long range electric skateboard modes among which is the lesser known Hellfire.
This little fella sports quite the performance but costs decently as well. For approximately $550 you will get a skateboard that goes as fast as 20 miles per hour which is, as I am sure you all realize, no joke.
Adding up its incredible range of roughly 20 miles on a single charge and you will notice you are getting a solid amount of raw power for nothing but a modest price tag.
It is very lightweight which makes it ideal for easy transporting from one place to another. This results in it being one of the best currently available commuting models that is very popular among young adults with 9 to 5 jobs. It is able to handle hills with up to 20 degrees incline which makes it perfect for hilly areas on your way to work or college… And best of all, its powerful battery takes roughly 2.5 hours to fully charge which is always a handy features.
Without a doubt, Hellfire is going to have a bright future ahead of itself. With plenty of satisfied customers, we don’t see why that number won’t increase in the near future.
MaxFind is another excellent electric skateboard model that is perfectly suitable for adults. With this being said, we mostly mean that it is the perfect solution for short daily tasks that usually require you to get in your car and drive around.
With this electric rideable, you can skip through the traffic jams and be on your destination in no time at all.
This is achieved by a great built quality accompanied by excellent specifications for a moderate price of roughly $600. This little fella features speeds up to 17 miles per hour and its battery is able to give you around 10 miles of range. This should be enough for a couple of runs from one destination to another, and will surely save you a lot of time because it allows you to ride through heavy traffic like a proper champ.
The battery inside is pretty powerful as you can see from the maximum range it allows… but another great thing about it is its fast charging capabilities. It takes only 2 hours to fully charge it, allowing you to have your mean of transportation up and running before you even know it. After all, it is made by Samsung. If someone knows what they’re doing, it’s them!
1. Yuneec E-GO2
Apart from their excellent drone manufacturing skills, Yuneec seems to be doing jus fine in the electric skateboards niche too. With their newest model called E-GO2, they have stepped up the pace and are looking to increase their popularity on the market.
The first thing we would like to state about the E-GO2 is that it has a kicktail shape. It allows you more control along with better steering capabilities at higher speeds. And while we are at speeds, it is important to mention that this sucker can reach up to 13 mph in the conditions.
Moreover, the battery lasts for amazing 18 miles on a single charge. This is the result of their innovative positive braking system that not only makes your skating safer, but ensures the battery lasts longer in the long run.
This model comes in 3 colors: Royal wave, mint and hot pink. These are basically representing standard colors, blue, green and (who would’ve guessed) pink! Among other things, it is also important to state that it supports an app that lets you control specific settings via your smartphone. Unfortunately, the app is only available for iOS devices at the moment, although we are expecting Android release on Google Store in the near future.
Electric skateboards for adults is a brand new niche that has been flourishing lately. Even though children’s models are leading the charge, adult-ready models are exponentially growing and are taking a large share of the market. This is due to the fact that many people use electric skateboards as alternatives to daily commuting methods.
They are moderately priced single time investments and offer good dose of versatility and don’t rely on expensive petrol. All things considered, there is no doubt that these models are of exceptional quality. All of them share one same trait – they will provide you with brilliant performance for a great period of time.
